Plant Description:
Alternanthera reineckii “Mini” is part of the Alternanthera genus. They are native to the waters of Central and South America, where they do best fully submerged underwater in nutrient rich substrate.
Alternanthera reineckii “Mini” is a stem plant that is adored because of its compact deep red and violet leaves. This plant can be planted directly into the substrate, and can be easily propagated by stem cuttings.
In the aquarium, Alternanthera reineckii “Mini”, is a relatively easy to care for plant that requires medium to high light and medium fertilization or CO2 supplementation for best and bright coloration. “Mini” is commonly used in Dutch style aquascapes and is great for adding a pop of color to small or large freshwater aquariums.
This plant is a medium to fast grower. Compared to other versions of Alternanthera, the “mini” variety tends to stay smaller and more compact. Trimming and pruning keeps it in its best health and shape.
