Ruguiera Gymnorhiza is an impressive tree, commonly referred to as the large-leafed orange mangrove or oriental mangrove. This awe-inspiring species can reach a grand height of up to 115' when fully mature - although usually smaller at around 22'-65' tall. A distinguishing feature is its short prop roots rather than long stilt roots and glabrous bark that ranges from reddish brown to light grey tones. Its green elliptic leaves measure 2" - 6". Its flowers have a distinctive red or pinkish-orange calyx with white or cream-colored petals.
